My first rant O.O, how school fails you in life (Semua Ada Disini)

My first rant O.O, how school fails you in life(Semua Ada Disini)

TGIF!!!!!

I hope you all had a good evening or a good night.  Probably still outside.  Well, this is me dipping my toes into the water.  I didn't want to make a vlog, but it's cathartic to be able to just go into a room and just break everything you see sometimes.

That isn't going to happen here, but I would like to talk about something that you spend probably a third to a fifth of your life doing.  It is not waiting in line. :(  That is probably half your life so you better find something good to do to pass the time.  I would recommend a book or a game, but that doesn't work if you are sitting in your car in traffic.

No, what I wanted to talk about are the tribulations and pitfalls of schools and the education system.  I have had a chance to attend a school in Canada and there are things that will leave you scratching your head.  Now before you get angry at me,  I know I am privileged to have had this available.  There are people out there that would give anything to give their kids the chance to go to. The one thing your parents will lovingly push you towards achieving higher levels.  Rightfully so, I would say, "keep at it kids." but I think it does have some quagmires that would be great if they overhauled it.

The first item in the agenda is homework.  I am all for self-learning and getting to learn more, but not when you force me to learn something that I don't need to learn and will probably never use for the rest of my life.   HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS and the quantity of it.

"I want you to answer questions 1-1000 and have it ready by tomorrow as we will take it up in class."  Does this really make you better at it.  I get it, practice makes perfect and maybe it can help with things like mathematics.  There are more effective ways of learning something though then doing the same type of question repeatedly for years on end.  It is unnecessary as the goal is to get you to memorize what you need to learn.

This then leads to the quantity of homework.  "TIME MANAGEMENT" they say, but when you are young, you should try to experience as much in life as possible.   It leads to stress for some and disdain for others.  WHY PUSH FOR MORE HOMEWORK?  Tying a person down in a chair and telling them to complete a book review of a novel or Shakespearean play that was boring to begin with isn't going to progress me any further in life.  Don't get me started on thy Shakespearean plays.   It is nice being able to understand cultural references, but how many people do you see talking like this nowadays?   Do you see them
walking down the street saying, "where art though Romeo?"  F*#@ NO!

Leaves you shaking your head I'd say, but this is your typical English class in high school.

We have moved from over-assigning homework to getting you to do pointless things.  Keeping with that thought, writing essays or research papers. ><  Again, I appreciate the ability to be able to write cohesively and without grammatical or spelling mistakes but sometimes you just want to stand up and say "FAIL!" especially when they try to fail you for something that is fine for others.

It gets worse in college/university especially in my home country. for other reasons  Avoiding going to a corrupt higher education system if possible ><  I have seen it and well, that is going to be another story I might share one day.  Who likes writing a 5 paragraph essay or a 1000 word one?   A lot of the things can be said in as few words as possible..keep it short and sweet.   Don't force me to write dribble about a topic that I don't care about!

OH, and the marking on this!  The most arbitrary system.   What one person will give you a "A" for, another might give you a "C."  Is it better if I fill this paper with highfalutin words that a normal person can never read?  It is elitist.  The goal of writing is to convey your thoughts so you can understand them not so I can impress you with my vocabulary.  This reminds me of this piece of $*&$ teaching assistant I had in university.

I wonder how many people actually remember their trigonometry, calculus, or how exactly photosynthesis works.   You know what would have really been good to learn in school?   DOING YOUR TAXES!  Instead of paying some idiot to make mistakes on your annual obligation, schools should be teaching you to do your own taxes.   How many people actually do their own taxes?  Maybe it's because the ones who are teaching, just don't get it themselves.

I will post this without reviewing it.  Tell me if I have I have any mistakes in the comments below.  Thank you for sitting through that.  I hope you all enjoy your Friday.  :D
